As of last night, I own a Wii.
Tell me, what games do I need to run out and buy immediately?

On the list already:
Mario Kart.
Smash Bros.
Mario Strikers.

What other gems are there?

This one's on my list... BoomBlox.

I must be deficient in my gaming gene, but I played Mario Kart on Wii and wasn't that thrilled with it. Anybody else feel the same way?

I've loved Mario Kart in all its incarnations and played the Wii version last weekend with a friend and had an absolute blast! :D

Something is screwy with this page's layout!!

Anyway, I got a wii about a month ago. SO addicting.

My list of played/owned games so far includes:

Mario Galaxy
Mario Kart
Super Paper Mario Bros
Mario Vs. sonic olympic games
WWE Smackdown (my husbands)
Wii Sports (of course)
Wii Play (just because it came with the extra controller)

and as of tomorrow I'll have Wii Fit.

I really want Smarty Pants, My Sims and Big Brain Academy too.

We got our Wii a year ago and played it constantly for a couple months and then completely neglected it. I'm hoping buying Wii Fit will inspire me to pick up a controller again. My boyfriend really liked Mortal Kombat: Armageddon (partially for the arcade nostalgia, I'm sure) and I had fun with Madden although it's kind of tough. So many gestures.

Yeah a friend of mine sold Madden for his Wii... it was INSANE to control.

Mario Kart's my favorite game for it thus far. I've been pretty impressed by the Wii version of "Bully," though. If you like boxing in Wii Sports, you'll enjoy the Wii version of "Bully," as you'll get to punch and kick, as well as use the trigger for slingshots and throwing things. It's cool. :D

A good silly game would be Rayman Raving Rabbids (the first one for Wii, not the second). It's not a top notch game, but it doesn't cost much, and it has some really fun moments, because it uses the Wii in unique ways--like to draw things, to "run" fast or "throw a cow" far into a field with your lasso. It has a multiplayer mode of a lot of those games, too, and it can be fun, only drawback being to that, that you have to play the solo game to unlock much of the multiplayer modes. It's great silly fun, though, I think.

P.S. - If you ever see a Mii by the name Wiitarded when playing Mario Kart worldwide, that has a provocatively large "O" mouth, that'd be me.

Oh, and as someone else said, Big Brain Academy's pretty cool. Even if it says I'm dumber than my boyfriend. :|

All the first party titles are excellent in their own niche. Even the little ones like Wii Play and WarioWare (as party games.)

Mario Galaxy is phenomenal. At first you'd think it would be difficult to control/follow but it is really pretty easy. Two player is a lot of fun as well, the second player is a helper and can only do a limited set of things, but it's still a lot of fun.

Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. It's a Zelda game. Aiming your bow/boomerang/grappling hook/etc was never easier.

Smash Brothers is great, but I use the gamecube controller for it now.

Endless Ocean is... almost not a game, but it's relaxing. Pick it up used if you do at all.

Thanks for the host of great suggestions! I had not really paid much attention to the Wii because I had a 360 already and there wasn't anything I was drooling over (save the various Mario titles).
Now I have a good starting point.
Thank again!!

Now... to find a copy of Mario Kart...

They have a TON of copies at my local Wal-Mart but that only helps if you're here.
