I'm still sub'd to joystiq, but I'm over them like I am Kotaku. They are off the wall now as I'm not interested in much other than XBOX360 and PC gaming new. I'm sub'd to XBOX360fanboy to get my XBOX 360 news, although, they aren't exactly what I want. If anything major is happening in the XBOX world, my subscription to Major Nelson or Gamerscore blog has me covered.

For my PC gaming fix, I'm into Bluesnews and Shacknews.

To cover my niche gaming areas, I'm sub'd to game-specific sites - either hard-core fansites or the (game)planet sites in the Gamespy network. Those sites give me the news that I really care about.

I'm subscribed to the Digg gaming news, and I subscribed to Destructoid for a while, but they are so prolific I just don't have the time to keep up.

I'm not a fan of Kotaku and Joystiq either. GamesTracker sounds interesting and I hadn't heard of Cathode Tan either - think I will look that up.

Joystiq and Kotaku are both a little too knee-jerk and marinated in testosterone for me to stand them for long. Not just the posters but the commenters as well. And honestly, the way people post "first!" all the time really gets on my nerves. Lastly... I don't care about endless photos of people queuing for consoles. Seriously.

Besides that I stick to lower-volume blogs. I get a lot of press releases anyway. I read Cathode Tan, the Guardian Gamesblog.... uh, if you search for me on Bloglines I think you'll be able to see my Games subscriptions.

For release dates I use GamesTracker.

I pretty much stick with Digg Gaming and Wow Insider only because I just need to hear the big stories and my niche WoW ones. Joystiq gives me too much crap I don't need and the big gaming sites just don't do it for me anymore. One site to look out for though is Destructoid as they have been pumping out a lot of good stuff the past couple of months.

In an effort to improve BinaryJoy I have decided to try and find out what games news and reviews sites people visit and why. So...

what games news and reviews sites do you visit and why?

Do you visit blogs like joystiq and kotaku or big portals like 1up and ign - and why one over the other. Any info you have would be great and maybe I will be able to steal an idea or two to improve my own site(s).
